Welcome to Progressive Independence! As a new member, you're probably wondering what the site is about and what the rules are. I'm here to tell you. As the text at the bottom of the page says, we're a daily blog site of, by, and for Progressives, Socialists, Left-Libertarians, Liberals, Communists, and anyone else whose political ideology is left-wing. To this end, we have established a constitution of sorts, into which have been incorporated our rules. So, without further adieu:
- Progressive Independence exists for the purposes of promoting Progressive and other left-wing ideas, causes, candidates, news stories, opinions, essays, media and so forth. If it's left-wing, we promote it.
- Although Progressive Independence is a partisan blog in the broader ideological sense, we do not cater to or promote any one political party over others. Members are free to promote the left-wing political parties, candidates, causes, media, and ideas they wish.
- Since Progressive Independence is a left-wing blog, right-wing propaganda is generally frowned upon and discouraged. Having said that, for the purposes of debate and to further enhance left-wing causes, we will allow discussion of right-wing ideas, causes, candidates, and media. We don't believe in placing unreasonable limits on what members discuss, unlike some other daily blog web sites.
- Members are free to post almost any content they see fit to share. Exceptions to this rule are as follows:
- Threats against other members,
- Calls to violence or incitement of violence,
- "Outing" of other members' real-life identities, personal information such as private addresses and telephone numbers, birth or marriage certificates, or Social Security numbers, and so forth (unless that information is already and visibly published on-site by said other members),
- Pornographic images and videos or links to same,
- Spam, or other advertising not approved by the administrators, and
- Viruses, trojans, worms, or any other form of mal-ware, or links to same.
- At no time is anyone to usurp or closely mirror the user handle or real-life identity of another member, as it has potential legal ramifications.
- There shall be no harassment or stalking of other members.
Those are the constitution and rules. As the web site grows in membership and content, these may change to accommodate the membership, but until or unless something major happens they shall remain the same. |
